Capital Needs

Catholic parishes and schools have served the Chicago-area community before Chicago was incorporated. Many buildings have served their communities well and have added to the aesthetic richness of Chicago neighborhoods and suburban communities. Some of these buildings require capital repair over and above what the local parishes can afford. In addition, demographic changes over the years have left areas in Cook and Lake Counties with large and growing Catholic populations who do not have adequate access to Catholic schools.

Accordingly, the campaign seeks funding to:

  • Carefully evaluate buildings used by parishes and schools in poorer communities, with the purpose of providing needed capital repairs.
  • Provide funding to new schools in areas where the Catholic population is growing and/or where there is a current unmet demand for Catholic education.
